Self promotion research

I have found a range of different style business cards. Some have been printed onto see-through plastic, thick textured card, embossed card etc.  I need to find a style that suits me, one that tells the view who I am and what I do at a first glance. I need to keep in mind colour choice, text hierarchy and image.

I have also found a range of other self promotion work that is quirky and grabs your attention. I like the idea of the crayons and pencils with information printed on the side. I could also design a booklet about myself and my work however I fear that it may look to large and that people won’t read it. I need to find a fun way of telling people about my work and where they can contact me.

Self Promo

I'm going to spend the  rest of the day sketching up ideas for my self promotion work. I want to focus on photography today and see what abstract ways I can shoot myself, perhaps play on my hair or eye colour.

Photoshop

I placed the 64 bar of soap on top of a lamp and let the light shine through it. This created a slight neon like feel to the image so I played with this idea but increasing/decreasing to Hue/Saturation and got these vibrant images. It has a retro feel about.

Soap logo

Yesterday I took a bar of soap and carved my 64 logo into it.....many hours (and bars of soap later) I had a complete logo within the bar of soap.

I then photographed it in the bathroom in different positions to express how it could be used for TV Idents. These included washing hands in the sink, in the shower and on the shower floor.

Inverts

I was able to get these vibrant neon colours by inverting the potato prints and the playing with the Hue saturation. They have a slight 60's feel to them which could be fun to play with

Potato print patterns

Potato prints

Over the weekend I got a potato and cut it in half. I then carved a mirror outline of the logo into the side of the potato so I could use it like a stamp. I remember when I was a child making potato prints and creating some interesting patterns. I thought this could be a fun and visually interesting was to show the logo.
