The key points of the paper are: Price, Quality and concise.
Price: its only 20p, cheapest paper on shelf (but still quality read), affordable to all (especially students).
Quality: Even though it's cheap it comes from a well established newspaper "the Independent" so it can be trusted.
Concise: Tells you the main issues in a way thats easy to understand, articles aren't too long, and they are nicely broken up so it doesn't overwhelm the reader.
